Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar tightly packed
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour measured correctly
  • 1 tsp baking soda sifted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips divided, reserving 1/4 cup for the top

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350˚F (175˚C) and line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a stand mixer, cream together the butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar for about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt, then gradually add to the creamed mixture.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips, reserving 1/4 cup for topping.
  6. Scoop equal balls of dough onto the baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are golden but tops look slightly under-baked, then cool on a wire rack.
