Method
Prepare the Dough
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, cardamom, and salt.
- Add warm milk, melted butter, and beaten egg. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Make the Filling
- In a bowl, mix softened butter, brown sugar, and chopped chocolate until well combined.
Shape the Rolls
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle.
- Spread the filling evenly over the dough.
- Roll the dough tightly from one long side to the other and cut into 12 equal pieces.
- Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake
- Mix the egg and milk for the egg wash and brush over the rolls.
- Sprinkle sugar on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
