Ingredients

  • 4 pieces boneless beef chops about 1 inch thick
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder granules
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

Method

  1. Take the boneless beef chops out of the fridge and let them sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes. Pat them dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, chili powder, dried oregano, Cajun seasoning, paprika, and garlic powder. Stir until well blended.
  3. Rub the spice mixture all over each beef chop, ensuring they are evenly coated. Let them sit for a few minutes while you heat up your skillet.
  4. In a large skillet, heat one tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add the seasoned beef chops to the hot skillet in a single layer and sear each side for about 4-5 minutes.
  5. Check if your beef chops have reached your desired level of doneness using an instant-read thermometer. For medium-rare, aim for an internal temperature of about 135°F (57°C).
  6. Remove the beef chops from the skillet and let them rest on a plate covered loosely with foil for about 5 minutes.
