  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for topping)
  • whipped cream (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust by mixing flour, salt, and sugar; cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add ice water and grape juice gradually until dough forms. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Cook sweet potatoes until tender (about 15-20 minutes). Drain, cool slightly, and mash.
  3. In a bowl, cream softened butter and dark brown sugar; add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Stir in spices and salt. Mix in mashed sweet potatoes followed by evaporated milk and vanilla.
  4. Roll out the chilled dough into the pie dish; fill with the sweet potato mixture.
