Ingredients

  • 2 lbs apples (Gala, Fuji, or similar)
  • 10 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 4 inches fresh ginger
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 teaspoons black peppercorns

Instructions

  1. Wash and quarter the apples without peeling.
  2. For Instant Pot: Combine apples, ginger, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, black peppercorns, and water. Cook on high pressure for 18 minutes, then release steam.
  3. For stovetop: In a pot, bring all ingredients to a boil over medium heat. Reduce to simmer for about 30 minutes; steep off heat for another 10 minutes.
  4. Strain the tea into a pitcher using a fine mesh sieve. Press down on solids to extract juices.
  5. Allow to cool before storing or serving hot.
