  • 1/2 cup almond paste (6 oz)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten (divided)
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lay the thawed puff pastry flat on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine almond paste, softened butter, granulated sugar, and half of the beaten egg until smooth.
  4. Spread the almond filling down the center third of the puff pastry.
  5. Cut diagonal strips along both sides of the pastry and fold them over the filling alternately to create a braided effect.
  6. Brush the top with the remaining beaten egg and sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
