  • 3/4 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chopped stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, cook the ground beef along with minced garlic and chopped onion for about 10 minutes until browned. Drain any excess liquid.
  2. Stir in chopped stewed tomatoes, beef broth, chili powder, ground cumin, dried oregano, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Cover and let the mixture simmer on low heat for one hour, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add the rinsed pinto beans and salt; cook for an additional 15 minutes until heated through.
  5. Serve hot in bowls and enjoy!
